That time of the year has come again. A time were twinkling string lights seem more vibrant than all the city lights at night. It's Christmas time, and aren't we glad. For whatever reason we celebrate Christmas, to me, it all seems to come down to one word...and that word is, Love. Perhaps, love is the main reason why Christmas even exists. It is a time in the year for togetherness, reconnection, tender moments with family and friends, happy feasts, christmas stories and reminiscing. There's no time like Christmas. There's no feeling like it either. Many of us will spending time with family, or friends, or a partner, or alone.
As much love there is that exists in our world, it is also possible that today, being Christmas, some people might not be in happy or celebratory mood. It is important to also acknowledge those who probably don't have anyone to spend today with. The Christmas season is a happy time, but it's also a very lonesome time for some people. So, if you have a friend or, know someone who's had a rough year or a hard time lately, try to reach out and check in with them. Help them feel like they're not alone. Let them know that they are valued, cared for, and remembered.
Love is a beautiful to have, and in whatever way we have been blessed, it is important to remember to not only count our blessings, but, to also share our blessings with those who are waiting on their blessing or miracle. I have no special plans, other than to appreciate how far I've come this year, relish in God's kindness and mercy, and be thankful. I am very thankful to be alive today, to witness another Christmas day, my favorite time of the year (besides my birthday, of course).
With all that said, I leave you with this little poem I wrote for today...
For the sake of love, we are kind.
For the sake of love, we are giving.
For the sake of love, we are soft.
For the sake of love, we do better.
Love grows us up a little,
And little can often be a lot.
May we learn to love a lot.
As though we were all made from love. For love is evolving.
Love is soft.
Love is kind.
Love is giving.
May we learn to give a lot.
As though giving was as natural as breathing. Give love.
Give it more.
Give it always.
Merry Christmas, my friends. I hope your day is filled with many wonderful and glorious things. I wish you love and happiness, today and always.
Warmly, Grace.
P.S. Please indulge in my favorite christmas album by the glorious Perry Como.
